Harvest Texarkana kicks off Hunger Action Month

During the month of September, Harvest Texarkana will join with area businesses, and faith-based organizations that will donate time, raise funds and give food to help their neighbors in need.

During the month of September, Harvest Texarkana will join with area businesses, and faith-based organizations that will donate time, raise funds and give food to help their neighbors in need.

It’s all part of Feeding America hunger relief organizations across the country who are uniting to focus attention on the persistent problem of domestic hunger.

With more than 52,000 individuals, including 17,000 children, in southwest Arkansas and northeast Texas living at or below the poverty line, and an additional 35,000 just on the edge of needing the services of hunger relief organizations, Harvest Texarkana says it’s more important now than ever before.

The Food Bank is offering an opportunity to take a daily stand against hunger by providing a 30 Ways in 30 Days guide of ways to fight hunger.

Harvest Texarkana says there are more than 52,000 individuals suffering from hunger in Harvest Texarkana’s 10-county service area.

Texas Roadhouse in Texarkana is helping Harvest Texarkana kick off Hunger Action Month by donating 10 percent of all food purchases from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
