Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana in jeopardy of closing

The non-profit is having troubling paying its veterinarian bills.

The Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana may have to close its doors..

Its current veterinarian bills total the amount of money the organization has in the bank.

Vice President Courtney Wingate, who manages the shelter, said  the shelter has cared for  17 dogs with the Parvovirus, causing the non-profit's bank account to hit rock bottom.

It's hoping corporate sponsors and donors will lend  a helping hand.

"We would've actually like to have sponsors and every year those sponsors donate to us," said Courtney Wingate, the Vice President.

"We put them on back of our t-shirts, we put them on our website, we have them here at the shelter and those sponsors are yearly donors and we're talking big money and then we have you know the public that would donate $10 to $20 per month to keep us going."

It's also in need of bleach and dog food donations.

There are 49 dogs at the shelter currently.

In July, the organization was able to get 39 dogs adopted.
