Local grocery store donates money to a charitable organization

A regional grocery chain contributes a large amount of money to help a charitable organization.

Wednesday morning the Salvation Army Boys and Girls club received a check for $15,000 from Brookshire's Grocery. The money comes from donations made during the 2013 Brookshire's Benefit Golf Tournament.

The salvation army says it plans to use the money to help buy a new bus.

Brookshire's plans to contribute $70,000 to seven boys and girls clubs organizations in select areas across Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

Additional checks have been presented to organizations in West Monroe and Lafayette, Louisiana and Greenville, Texas.
