For many losing the Safe House came to a surprise.
"Very much a surprise. I first found out Monday morning. I believe they are contracted to stay open until the end of the fiscal year. That is through June 30th. We hope they make extra use of that transition and honor their contract," Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover said.
LA Rep. Patrick Williams echoes that same notion and made a called to DCFS right away when he heard.
"They will be putting someone in place next week to start transition discussions. The funding provided will follow to the next organization to take over," Williams said.
Two organizations have been identified to possibly take over.
