Local man injured after overnight shooting

A Shreveport man is recovering after being shot late Tuesday evening in west Shreveport.
According to Cpl. Marcus Hines it happened just before 11:00 p.m. as Shreveport Police officers were dispatched to a shooting at an apartment complex located in the 7200 block of Bernstein Avenue.  Upon police arrival, officers discovered 25 year old William Ardison, suffering what appeared to be a grazing gunshot wound to the head. Ardison, whose injuries were considered to be non life-threatening, was transported to a local hospital for treatment.  Officers on scene at the crime were able to gather information suggesting the victim and a group of acquaintances were sitting outside an apartment, when at least two males with coverings over their faces approached the group armed with handguns and demanded money.  It was during that time, an exchange of gunfire between the would be robbers and the group of men seated outside the apartment transpired.  Following the exchange of gunfire, the two masked men fled the scene of the crime on foot. No other injuries were reported.

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes investigators arrived on scene at the apartment complex and launched an investigation into the shooting.  Authorities are now working to develop leads in the case that will ultimately lead to the identification and arrest of those persons responsible for the crime.  Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact Caddo-Crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373, or visit their website at www.lockemup.org
