Local orgqanization responses to anti-abortion bills

Bobby Jindal signs anti-abortion bill Thursday likely to close clinics in Baton Rouge and New Orleans

This is a completely unnecessary law that's being passed for the sole purpose of shutting down abortion clinics

That's what the president of the Shreveport Bossier chapter of N.O.W. is saying about House Bill 388 and 305

The two House Bills that were signed into law by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal on Thursday - a move his critics, like Debbie Hollis, say will force three of the state's five clinics to close.

Leaving only two clinics in the state.... one in Shreveport..... the other, in Bossier

I do see the two clinics in Shreveport Bossier being open at least 6 days a week

House Bill 388 also requires doctors who perform more than five abortions a year to maintain proper licensing - something that Debbie Hollis says isn't putting women in danger, but rather the doctors they who perform the abortions.
The doctors who put their name on this list now for only performing 5 abortions a year will be targeted by violence by anti choice extremist

We reached out to Hope Medical Group for women for a comment - they couldn't go on air, but they did allow Debbie Hollis to speak for them

Hope is preparing to increase their patient load and they are also preparing for a concentrated effort from the anti choice protesters here in Shreveport

Yesterday Bobby Jindal sent out a tweet saying:

"I am proud to sign these bills because they will help us continue to protect women and the life of the unborn in our state,"  "These new laws will give women the health and safety protections they deserve and continue to make Louisiana a state that values individual human life."

But Debbie Hollis says it's unfair to the low income families that don't live in this part of the state

When these women have to drive six hours to Shreveport and 6 hours back, take time off work, pay for it, pay for hotel. this puts a huge burden on their family
