Local science and engineering fair begins

Fair is open to the public Friday night and Saturday morning.
For the next two days you can attend the Louisiana Science and Engineering fair hosted by Bossier Parish Community College. The fair is open to the public Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and also Saturday morning from 8:30to 10 a.m..\

500 4th through 12th grade students from Caddo, Bossier, DeSoto, Webster and Red River parishes will be participating. Each student placed in the top three of their schools science fair.

Fair director and BPCC Biology professor, Bob Boykin,says he continues to be amazed at what the students bring to the event each year.

"This is a testimony for science in northwest Louisiana, we've got some excellent teachers that do a fantastic job and it's very evident," says Boykin.

3 local high school winners from last year's fair went on to compete in the International Science Fair. Shreveport's, Henry Lin, received the Intel Foundation Young Scientist Award of $50,000.
