Donna Bankovic gets letters almost every month with her water bill that she says states, "The EPA does not consider this violation to have serious adverse health affects on human health as a result of short term exposure, however, continued long term exposure has the potential to have serious adverse affects on human health."
The notices tell Bankovic she can drink the water if it's boiled but she doesn't want to risk it and so she has to spend around 80 dollars each month buying bottled water.
"It is a lot of money and me and my husband both work and a lot of people in town don't work at all...and everybody can't afford to buy water and some people drink it because they have no choice", said Bankovic.
Bankovic was one of many residents whose water was cut off after a pump malfunction at Mooringsport's East Cove facility over the weekend. She says this wasn't the first time this has happened but there has been talk of Blanchard taking over their water services.
Bankovic says "That's all they tell us, when Blanchard takes over it will be better."
