The Marshall Independent School District asked voters to support a $150-million bond proposal Saturday. It failed by 212 votes. 52% of voters were against the bond.

The funds would have been used to build new schools and upgrade others. Many of the buildings in the district don’t meet required classroom size or disability requirements.

This was the district’s first bond proposal in nearly 30 years.
