A motorcycle accident early Sunday morning leaves one man dead and another injured.

Shreveport Police are investigating the crash that happened in east Shreveport.

Just after midnight on Sunday June 15, 2014, Shreveport Police responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Clyde Fant Parkway at Shreveport Barksdale Highway.

It involved a motorcycle and a four door sedan.

Upon officers arrival at the scene it was learned 23-year-old Derrick M. Hall, who had been operating a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle, died from injuries received after being involved in a collision with a 2009 Hyundai Accent.

A witness on the scene of the accident told police the cyclist was traveling south bound on Clyde Fant Parkway approaching Shreveport-Barksdale Highway when the driver of the Accent, Janee Clay, 24, of Shreveport, entered ClydeFant Parkway heading east from the exit ramp of Shreveport Barksdale Highway, allegedly pulling into the path of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle impacted the driver's side of Clay's vehicle.

Shreveport Fire Department personnel arrived on scene shortly after the accident at which time Hall was pronounced deceased.

Clay, who was not seriously injured in the crash, was taken to an area hospital for standard toxicological testing as mandated by state law.

While no exact cause of the accident has been established, Crash investigators believe that speed may have been a factor in the crash as they continue their probe into the events surrounding the accident.
