Neighbors console a father who accidentally ran over his daughter.
Madison Dacaldacal, 14 month old, died Thursday, after her father accidentally ran her over. It happened in front of their home in the 600 block of Rome Street.
“It was just a horrible tragic accident,” said Larry Perry, a witness.
Bossier City Police said Dacaldacal put his three children in the truck, and went to the house to lock the doors. During that time, the baby got out of the truck and hid in front of the truck. A witness said the father didn’t realize it, and ran her over.
“I hollered but of course it was too late,” said Perry.
“I went over to him and he jumped out of the car and picked her up and started screaming and I called 911. From what he said, he thought he'd run over a bicycle. “
Neighbors describe Dacaldacal as a family man, who was always outside playing with his kids.
“He's a great family man. They had a big party for her last week,” said Danielle Glover.
“I don't know him personally, but I've watched him play with those kids everyday when he comes in from work. He takes that little girl out, he plays with her. He taught her how to ride a bicycle,” said Perry.
The funeral is Sat., July 26 at 11 a.m. at True Holiness Tabernacle, located at 1100 Barksdale Boulevard, Bossier City. Visitation is Fri., July 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Heavenly Gates Funeral Home in Shreveport.
Family hour follows from six to seven back at the church in Bossier City.
