Efforts to stop the spread of giant salvinia result in a new partnership. The Red River Waterway commission joins Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches to test an alternative method for controlling the invasive plant. The current tools being used are mechanical removal, chemical control and weevils. Researchers will test something called an Endocide which they say is cost effective and environmentally friendly.
