Shreveport Police have arrested a suspect who allegedly committed an armed robbery of a local business Wednesday night in west Shreveport.
Xavier Anderson, 24, has been taken into custody and charged in the Wednesday armed robbery of the Dollar General Store in the 4600 block of Mansfield Road.
Just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Shreveport Police responded to a call from the Dollar General store relative to an armed robbery of the business.
Upon arrival, officers gathered information from witnesses indicating a man wearing all dark clothing, with a mask over his face, entered the business armed with a gun and demanded the clerk open the register.
The clerk complied with the suspect, who fled the business after making off with an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers were able to obtain information pertaining to the suspects physical description, along with a vehicle believed to have been involved in the robbery.
Shreveport Police Robbery Detectives were called to the scene during which time they launched an investigation into the robbery.
Minutes following the robbery, a patrol officer spotted a vehicle traveling in the 2500 block of Midway Avenue, which had a similar description as the vehicle officers were seeking.
A subsequent traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver and passenger. During the traffic stop, it was soon learned the passenger inside the vehicle fit the physical description of the suspect described in the robbery.
Further investigation revealed the man, identified as Anderson, had evidence specific to the robbery inside the car. Anderson was arrested and transported to Shreveport Police headquarters for interviews with detectives.
Following subsequent interviews, it was learned Anderson acted alone in the robbery and the driver of the car in which he was found was not involved. Anderson was later booked into the Shreveport City Jail where he now faces a single count of Armed Robbery.
