Police remind residents to slow down in school zones

As parents and children prepare for the new school year Bossier police remind everyone they will be enforcing speed limits in school zones.

Starting tomorrow students return to class in Bossier parish.

Police remind drivers to slow down and suggest leaving for work a little earlier in the morning to compensate for possible delays.

Public information officer Mark Natale says, "We want them to be careful and adhere to the speed limits in those activated school zones in the morning time and afternoon time when children are coming and going from school."

The minimum fine for speeding in a school zone is $150 plus court costs.

While it is the law for drivers to stay off their cell phones while driving in a school zone, the city currently hasn't received the signs that must be in place for that law to be enforced.
