Red Cross springs into action for tornado victims

The Red Cross sprung into action after a tornado touched down in Bossier Parish.
Today, a Red Cross disaster assessment team went out on our Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) to assess the damage caused by the tornado and to begin speaking with families to determine their emergency needs for Red Cross assistance. At this time, damage assessment has been completed for 8 homes. Two homes were destroyed, and the remaining 6 had varying degrees of damage. These numbers may rise as volunteers continue with damage assessment tomorrow morning. Tomorrow, volunteers will continue to meet with families affected to assess their needs and to provide assistance. Red Cross disaster relief is to provide food, clothing, shelter, important prescriptions, medical equipment and other necessities based upon a family’s individual needs.
