In Desoto Parish, the Louisiana Department of Transportation is keeping an eye on major roads and highways.
DOTD crews are working 24 hours shifts, with scouts monitoring different locations throughout north and central Louisiana.
LA DOTD Public Information Officer Susan Stafford says salt trucks and equipment are ready to go just in case ice starts to build up on roadways.
Stafford says they’re especially keeping an eye on I-49.
"I-49, the urban section where we have a lot of the bridges and overpasses, that always is an area that we watch very carefully and monitor, because it's very susceptible to ice," says Stafford.
