A local man is now behind bars following his arrest by Shreveport Police detectives Wednesday afternoon.

Just before 1 p.m. today (July 23, 2014), Shreveport Police arrested 18-year-old Deangleo Jackson of the 6700 block of Jefferson Paige Road, a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting which sent a local woman to the hospital last month.

On June 26, 2014, Shreveport Police were called to the Blue Ridge mobile home park relative to a woman who had been shot.  Upon the arrival of officers, it was learned 23-year-old Jessica Bernard was suffering a single gunshot wound to the side of the abdomen.

It was learned Bernard was shot while sitting inside a vehicle at an apartment complex located in the 6700 block of Buncobme Road.  Bernard, who continues to recover from her injuries, was transported to University Health Medical Center.

Since the investigation, information and evidence gathered linked Jackson to the crime. Jackson was taken into police custody and transported to Shreveport Police headquarters.

Following interviews with detectives, Jackson was transported to the Shreveport City Jail where he was booked on a single count of Illegal Use of a Weapon.

A second man, Eudarrius Gooden was arrested July 12 by Caddo Parish Sheriffs deputies on an outstanding warrant for aggravated Second degree battery for his alleged role in the shooting.

Gooden remains housed at the Caddo Correctional Center.
