A pair of suspected thieves today joined other inmates in the Shreveport City jail for Sunday morning breakfast after neglecting to pay for more than a thousand dollars worth of merchandise they picked up during a Saturday afternoon shopping trip.

Terence Turner, 29, and Breunica Turner, 26, of Shreveport, were taken into custody by Shreveport police Saturday afternoon, not far from where their ill-fated shopping trip began.

Just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday (August 23, 2014), Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the J.C. Penny department store in the 7400 block of Youree Drive in reference to a shoplifting that just occurred.

Upon arrival, the officers gathered information that a male and a female left the store with numerous stolen items in tow. They made their getaway in a late model, four door Fiat, and were seen headed north on Youree Drive.

As additional information was relayed to investigating officers, ultimately leading to the suspects’ vehicle, which was pulled over by authorities in the 300 block of Southfield Road. During the traffic stop, officers detained the occupants, who were inside the vehicle. Evidence located inside the car was consistent with property stolen from the business.

SPD property crimes detectives were notified of the crime and immediately responded to the scene. During their probe of the incident, it was learned the Turners, both of the 1600 block of Nicholson Street, entered the retail store and gathered up more than  $1,300 worth of merchandise before bolting - without paying - from the store.

Investigators interviewed both Turners on the scene, before transporting them to the Shreveport City Jail, where they were both booked in for one count of felony theft of goods.

Authorities are looking into other crimes the two suspects allegedly committed at the same retail store. If you have any information about these crimes please call Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373 or www.lockemup.org
