Shreveport Fire Chief Craig Mulford entered Caddo Correctional Center just before noon today and turned himself into authorities, after a Caddo grand jury handed down two sealed indictments Wednesday.

Mulford was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on a secret indictment warrant charging five counts of malfeasance in office. Each charge has a bond of $5,000.

The indictment is related to the abuse and prostitution scandal at Shreveport’s Fire Station No. 8 revealed last summer.

Seven firefighters were investigated for playing cruel pranks on two mentally challenged men who spent time at the station; five were charged and arrested. They were also accused of of paying a prostitute to have sex with one of the men.

Mulford was accompanied by his wife and former Caddo Parish District Attorney Paul Carmouche, who is now in private practice as a criminal defense lawyer.

There will be another arrest related to the Fire Station No 8 scandal, according to Caddo District Attorney Charles Scott. The warrant served on Mulford was a result of only one of the two sealed indictments handed down by the Caddo Parish grand jury.

NBC 6 News has a crew at CCC and will bring details as they become available.
