Update at 10:16am:
A local man is behind bars Tuesday morning in connection to a shooting that claimed the life of a woman in West Shreveport Monday night.
Around 9:20pm, Shreveport Police responded to the 3600 block of Redbud Lane in reference to a report of gunshots being fired in the area.
When they arrived, officers spoke with a witness who reported they heard a woman screaming and then a gunshot.
Officers began to investigate and found an adult female lying under the carport of a home in the 3500 block of Valley View Drive.
The victim, later identified as 41-year-old Karen Johnson, was suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives and crime scene investigators began gathering evidence and were able to develop 41-year-old Anton C. Cooley as a suspect.
Authorities believe Cooley and the victim were involved in an ongoing romantic relationship and Cooley shot the victim during the course of some sort of domestic dispute.
A police detective got a tip on where Cooley was, and took him into custody without incident.
Police also found the weapon they believe was used in the commission of this crime.
Cooley, of the 600 block of Damaka Drive in Shreveport, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of 2nd Degree Murder.
Witnesses report hearing screams and at least one gun shot fired around 9:30pm. The shooting we're told happened in the 3700 block of Valley View Drive.
The victim was found dead in front of a home on the 3500 block of Valley View Drive.

Police have arrested a suspect. 41-year-old Anton Cooley was arrested on second degree murder charges.
