Shreveport man sentenced to life in brutal killing

A Shreveport man today was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole, probation or suspension of sentence for pumping a man full of bullets in May 2013.

A Shreveport man today was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole, probation or suspension of sentence for pumping a man full of bullets in May 2013.

 

Andrew Smith will spend the rest of his life in prison after being sentenced today by Caddo District Judge Brady O’Callaghan. Oh June 12, a Caddo Parish Jury deliberated two hours before voting 2-12 to convict  Smith of second degree murder for his part in the death of 21-year-old Prentiss Britton.

 

The shooting  happened at the Cooper Road Plaza Apartments in the 2900 block of Peach Street. At the time, police said Smith fired at least 12 shots at Brittion striking him in the upper and lower body.  Britton was later pronounced dead at University Hospital.
