A local legend is honored Saturday. During the monthly “Unscene” arts festivities ,Stan “The Record Man” Lewis is recognized in a tribute show.
It’s the first time he's ever been honored in block party fashion in Shreveport. Musical legends such as “Eddie Giles” and “Betty Lewis and The Executives” were just some of the grassroots music artists that returned to the stage .
Lewis is known for putting Shreveport on the map in the music industry. He sold millions records at his " Stan's Record Shop ". He was good friends with Elvis Presley. Ironically, Lewis’ biggest day in business was when Elvis Presley died. He said the phone at his record shop was ringing off the hook, with people trying to buy all of Presley’s records.
Lewis is credited with helping many Rock and Roll, Gospel, and Rhythm and Blues artists become famous through his Jewel Paula Ronn record labels. He worked with artists to distribute their music across the country and abroad.
Garland Jones and Caddo Commissioner Michael Williams helped organize the tribute show
