Marissa Carbine, Event Coordinator for the Red River Entertainment District says "It's a cool opportunity to bring your kids out and have a free afternoon and just let them run around and burn off all that energy and listen to a great band play."
All the vendors and performers, like the band Red River Sun, are from the Shreveport area.
"We try to promote people who are local and they're actually new to the area," Carbine said "and this is a great way to introduce them to the community and they've had a really great response."
Kristie Smith has an 11 month old son and said "Not much he can really do because he can't walk but just kind of getting him out of the house instead of being cooped up all summer."
The final installment of SummerFest will be held August 30th.
