The Texarkana Homeless Coalition will conduct its annual point-in-time homeless population count Thursday.

The Texarkana Homeless Coalition will conduct its annual point-in-time homeless population count Thursday.

Every year the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires all Homeless Coalitions to collect data on homelessness during the last week in January.

Assisting the THC will be the statewide Texas Homeless Network, which annually assists communities with their Point-in-Time homeless survey preparation and data analysis.

“We are looking for anyone who is homeless, recently has been homeless, or is in danger of becoming homeless” said Bryan Bixler, executive director of the Texarkana Friendship Center and chair of the Homeless Count Committee. “The information you give is totally anonymous, however it is very helpful as we plan for the future and how to end homelessness in Texarkana.”

The following locations will be participating in this year’s count.

Location:        Randy Sam’s Shelter  6-8 am

                        Friendship Center 9am-4pm

St. Edward’s Outreach (Blue House) 9:30am-12pm

                        Life House Church 10am-12pm

Coalition Teams will be visiting various other sites
