Tight deadline for CPSB construction projects

The Caddo Parish School System has a tight deadline for getting campuses ready for the new school year.
The Caddo Parish School System has a tight deadline for getting campuses ready for the new school year.

The Director of Capital Projects tells NBC 6 News they'll only have two weeks to reconstruct Booker T. Washington high school. The school was heavily damaged during a fire.

District leaders have considered relocating students if the project isn't finished on time, but that option has been taken off the table.

Steve White says,” At this point our objective is to reach the goal of putting students back into the classroom at Booker T. Washington High School in the same condition that they left them in or better than last year.”

There are 40 other summer projects underway throughout Caddo Parish-- with a total price tag of $20 million. Those projects range from new lighting, security and fencing.

White feels confident all projects will be finished by the first day of school.
