The Ragin Cajuns outslugged the Demons in Natchitoches
LAFAYETTE – Four walks and a critical error in the third and fourth innings allowed No. 1-ranked Louisiana-Lafayette to secure a lead in a 10-1 win over the Northwestern State baseball team Tuesday night in non-conference action at Tigue Moore Field.

Northwestern State (12-11) issued 11 walks and had four errors in the game, and eight of the 10 Louisiana-Lafayette (23-2) runs resulted.  The Ragin' Cajuns won their 13th straight game, the longest streak in the nation.

Ryan Leonards, who reached on a walk in the third at-bat of the third inning, scored on a bases loaded free pass issued to Tyler Girouard.  Seth Harrison, who also reached on four balls, scored along with Caleb Adams on a single up the middle from Jace Conrad.

The Ragin' Cajuns scored three more in the fourth inning, two on a home run from Leonards after an error by Demon third baseman Matt Alford.  The freshman dropped a pop up foul ball to allow Leonards to continue his at-bat, and the next pitch was sent over the wall.

Harrison, who reached on a walk, scored the final run of the inning from third base on an error by Edwin Gomez.

Northwestern State scored the game's first run in the opening frame on a hard-hit double to left field of the bat of Cort Brinson to score Joel Atkinson.  Atkinson reached on a single to left field in the second Demon at-bat of the game.

Louisiana-Lafayette quickly tied the game in its first inning with a sacrifice fly to left field from Seth Harrison that scored Trahans.  Trahans reached on a base on balls, and advanced to third base on a single from Leonards one batter later.

The Cajuns added another run in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly to center field from Harrison.  Dylan Butler scored the run after he reached base on a walk.

Ryan Wilson (3-1) started on the mound for Louisiana-Lafayette grabbed the win on 5.2 innings pitched.  He allowed eight hits, one run and two walks, and struck out six Demons.  Matt Plitt finished the game and earned his second save of the season on 3.1 perfect innings pitched.

Northwestern State went through seven pitchers, and started with Josh Oller.  Oller worked two innings and allowed one run on two hits and one walk.  Devin Bear (0-1) took the loss in his first career game.  He pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed three runs, all earned, on two hits and three walks.

Evan Tidwell pitched 1.1 innings and allowed three unearned runs on three hits and two walks.  Josh Morris, Hunter Duvic, Nathan Aultman and Caleb Dugas all pitched one inning.  Aultman allowed a run and Dugas allowed two unearned.

Caleb Dugas and Nathan Lyons were both 1-of-3 on the night, and Edwin Gomez, Joel Atkinson, Brinson, Bret Underwood and Regan Kaufman all had one hit in four at-bats.  C.J. Webster was 1-for-2.  Webster and Dugas each had a walk.

Leonards had four hits in as many tires with two runs scored and two runs knocked in.  Trahan drew three walks and Harrison drew two. All but three Cajuns who started finished with a base knock, and all Michael Strentz was the only Cajun not to reach base.

The Demons finished with eight hits, two behind Louisiana-Lafayette.

NSU will continue its road swing with a three-game, conference series against Sam Houston State.  The first game of that series will be at 6:30 on Friday.
