Chief of Police Willie Shaw and Police Sergeant Clint Cain received the patriot award, after being nominated by an employee.

The award is an honor for helping and supporting an employee in the National Guard or Reserve.

"They help them out sometimes they help their families out, they keep in contact with them, keep their job open, they support them and their family," Says Ruth Medcalf with Employer Support of Guard and Reserve or ESGR.

The Patriot Award was created by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve who say an employer's support is critical to maintaining strength and readiness of the nation's National Guard and Reserve.
