The Texas Department of Transportation is hoping to save your life with a new message about distracted driving.

On Tuesday TxDOT launched its statewide Talk, Text, Crash summer campaign at a summit in Austin.

The Talk, Text, Crash campaign is warning you about the dangers of distracted driving and urging you to avoid multi-tasking or engaging in non-driving related activities when you're behind the
wheel.

Distracted driving-related crashes in Texas are highest among young adults ages 16 to 24, followed by adults over the age of 44. Last year in Texas, 505 people were killed and 19,981 people were seriously injured in distracted driving crashes.
