Vigilant citizen helps police nab suspected car burglars

Authorities have arrested a pair of local teens for allegedly breaking into multiple vehicles early this morning in southeast Shreveport.

At approximately 3:20 a.m. on July 19, 2014, a concerned citizen made a call to Shreveport Police relative to several male suspects rifling through vehicles at an apartment complex parking lot in the 6000 block of Roma Drive. Patrol officers immediately converged on the area and, upon arrival, did indeed locate four suspects, all of whom fled the scene of the crime on foot in an apparent attempt to evade capture. Patrolmen were able to apprehend two of them, identified as 18 year old Jeremy Bell and 17 year old Laroyce Daniel-Brown, but not before one officer suffered minor injuries.

Detectives were notified and, based on information and evidence gathered during the early stages of their ongoing inquiry, believe Bell, Daniel-Brown and two other accomplices broke into at least four vehicles there on Roma Drive before police arrived. Investigators are working at this hour to identify and apprehend the at large suspects.

Bell and Daniel-Brown, both of the 7000 block of Burlingame Boulevard in Shreveport, were booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count each of simple burglary and resisting a police officer with force or violence. They may face additional charges as the investigation moves forward. It should be noted Bell and Daniel-Brown were just arrested together in March of 2014 and charged in connection with vehicle burglaries at another apartment complex in Shreveport. Anyone with any information regarding this crime is urged to contact Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373 or www.lockemup.org
