Authorities are seeking the whereabouts of a suspect accused of stealing money from an elderly victim.

Shreveport Police were contacted in early April relative to a reported theft of assets from an elderly victim.  Upon contact with the complainant, information was gathered that 66-year-old John Farris Sr. had been victim of a theft at the hands of his son, identified as 33-year-old John Farris Jr.

During investigators probe of the incident, it was learned that the elder Farris was hospitalized upon suffering a medical condition which severely affected his cognitive ability.  Just days following his discharge from care, the elder Farris was reportedly taken to a local financial institution where he was tricked into granting John Farris Jr. access to his accounts.

Following this action, John Farris Jr. reportedly took the opportunity to make multiple large transactions from him father’s bank account before completely exhausting it.

Following the withdrawals, John Farris Jr. fled the home he shared with his father and has not been seen since.

Authorities assigned to the case have procured a warrant for the arrest of John Farris Jr., charging him with a single count of Theft of Assets of an Aged or Elderly Person.  Bond in the matter has been set at 40,000.00.  Anyone with information on the whereabouts of John Farris Jr. are asked to contact Caddo-Crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org
