Washington scrambles to control the chaos in Iraq and Syria

The British government today raised its terror threat level to severe - the second-highest level, meaning an attack is likely. That's because some of the soldiers fighting for the terror group Isis in Iraq and Syria are British - and could one day return to attack the UK. Brian Mooar has the story from Washington.

As the United Kingdom elevated its terror threat level; Prime minister David Cameron warned Isis extremists may reach far beyond Iraq and Syria.

He wants to limit travel and revoke passports of British jihads to prevent attacks at home.

The white house is trying to explain what the president meant to say about US military plans for Isis in Syria.

Members of congress want to advise and consent - there's little support for another American war.

While working on a plan for Syria Russian incursions into Ukraine threaten to turn that crisis into another flashpoint - despite crushing economic sanctions.
