Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a woman after she brought a loaded shotgun on the campus of a north Natchitoches Parish school Wednesday, according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr.
Aftan Loe Creighton, 30, of the 100 block of Keith Road in Coushatta, but currently living in the Montgomery area, was arrested and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center and charged with one count of terrorizing.
Jones, said the Sheriff’s office received a call Wednesday morning from a citizen reporting a female may have been on the way to Fairview Alpha Elementary School campus. The caller said the female recently had threatened bodily harm to a family member. The caller believed the female was headed to school campus to take her child from the school.
Deputies asked Natchitoches Police to interview the concerned citizen confirming the information, and the school staff and the NPSO Deputy Michael Longino, the school resource officer were alerted.
At approximately 8:40 a.m., Longino made contact with Creighton as she arrived on campus. Deputies observed that Creighton’s behavior was unusual, and additional units were summoned to the school campus. NPSO deputies, along with Natchitoches multi-jurisdictional drug task force agents who are also members of the Natchitoches SWAT Unit responded .
Deputies say Creighton appeared upset, and agitated. Deputies, also say that Creighton told them she had a shotgun in her truck and she would “take care of anyone if they attempted to interfere with her getting her child.”
Deputies then detained Creighton for the safety of the children, school staff, and officers on the scene. In a search of Creighton’s vehicle, deputies seized a loaded Remington 1-gauge Pump Shotgun, and a box containing 13 shot shells, easily accessible in the toolbox.
Creighton is currently awaiting a bond hearing in the 10th Judicial District Court, and additional charges are pending. Deputies believe this incident initiated from a recent marriage separation.
