A Shreveport woman is facing criminal charges after she allegedly stabbed a man Tuesday night in west Shreveport.

Dwanda Taylor, 23, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

Just before 11 p.m. Monday, Shreveport Police patrol officers were called to a home located in the 300 block of West 75th Street relative to a male victim who had been stabbed there.

Upon the arrival of officers, contact was made with the victim, 49-year-old Dexter Alexander.  Reportedly, Alexander had been stabbed at least once in the mid-section following a dispute at his home just moments before authorities arrived on scene.

The victim was transported by the Shreveport Fire Department to University Health Medical Center where he was last listed in serious but stable condition.

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives arrived on scene at the home and were able to gather details surrounding the incident.

It was learned during the preliminary stages of the investigation, Alexander was present at his home along with Taylor when the stabbing occurred.

Taylor is reported to be involved in a dating relationship with a relative of Alexander's who also resides in the home. Authorities suspect a verbal dispute between Alexander and Taylor ensued in which Taylor allegedly committed a battery on Alexander's person without his consent.

Additional information, along with evidence recovered at the scene of the crime, supports claims Taylor stabbed Alexander with a knife before fleeing the scene on foot.

Police located Taylor at a home a few blocks away where she was taken into custody without incident.  She was transported to Shreveport Police Headquarters where she was interviewed by detectives.

Following subsequent interviews with investigators, Taylor was transported to the Shreveport City Jail where she was booked on a single count of Aggravated Battery.
