Driver slams into fence, truck while ducking bullets

Shooting in west Shreveport

A shooting in west Shreveport leaves a man fighting for his life, and another woman injured.

NB 6 was the first news crew on the scene.  The shooting happened on Dollarway street near the Villa Marquis apartments around 6 p.m. Police said a male driver was pulling out of the parking lot, when he heard gunshots.  He then sped up to avoid the gunfire, and crashed into a pickup truck.

"The victim was driving the car and he was shot and he wrecked the vehicle into the fence. Everything is kind of preliminary right now. Crime scene is on scene. They're investigating, gathering evidence, taking pictures," said Lt. Keith Cobb, Shreveport Police Department.

The male victim was taken to University Health with life threatening injuries. Police said he was last listed in critical condition. The woman was also transferred, but police do not believe she was shot.

No arrests have been made.
