Kenyan authorities continue to their efforts to put an end to a deadly hostage standoff at an upscale shopping center in Nairobi.

On Monday there was extended gunfire and at least seven large explosions where heavily armed militants are holding hostages inside the Westgate Mall.

Kenyan police say more hostages have been rescued and that authorities are increasingly gaining advantage of the attackers.

Authorities believe there are at least 10 militants and 10 hostages still in the mall.

So far, 62 people have been killed and at least 175 injured in the standoff which has been going on for three days.

Al Shabab, a Somali terrorist organization linked to al Qaeda, said that it was behind the assault and that it was retribution for a 2011 push by Kenya into Somalia.
