Round two of Caddo Parish Schools' superintendent search is now underway. After a failed first attempt the board hopes to have a new leader in place by the end of the year.

The board will use the same search firm from the original search. However the board won't have to pay any additional fees.

McPherson & Jacobson charged $26,000 for the initial search. This go around the board will only have to pay for additional travel. They'll also be responsible for advertising costs, which is $2,000.

Wayne Gibson with McPherson & Jacobson says this isn't the first time a board has been deadlocked, but it's still uncommon.

This search will also be national like the first. Gibson told the board he's perplexed more local candidates from northwest Louisiana didn't apply for the job. He said he didn't know the exact reason but suggested the cause could be internal.

Two of the finalists in the first search, John Dilworth & Mary Nash Robinson, have already said they won't reapply.

For the second search the board will be starting from scratch. There still isn't a set timeline, but stay with NBC 6 News for updates.
