East Texas Baptist running backs coach Lee Grimes brings NFL and SEC pedigree to Marshall
At 6'7", 300 lbs, ETBU running backs coach Lee Grimes is hard to miss.
"When Coach Grimes walks in the room, you're going to notice first of all," Josh Eargle, ETBU first year head coach, said. "Unofficially, he is the biggest running backs coach in America."
As a former NFL offensive lineman for the San Diego Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccanneers, Grimes sells himself to the players.
"It obviously give me respect when I walk in the room," Lee Grimes, ETBU running backs coach, said. "Just cause they know I've been there. I've been to the level that they wanna go to."
Prior to his stint in the NFL, Grimes played his college ball at Texas A&M under former head coach Mike Sherman.
It's great exposure for us," Eargle said. "When he walks in the door for ETBU and he flashes his alma mater's ring....of course they wanna listen."
Grimes hopes his time in the NFL and College Station will run off on the Tigers.
"It's definitely an experience, that most kids their age want. I'm trying to instill as much as I learned from the whole process," Grimes said.
