Nothing will stop a tornado, and now we know it’s true.
Rain and power outages couldn't keep Haynesville Golden Tornado fans away from celebrating their school's spirit stick win with our morning crew.
It was a dark, rainy drive into the town of Haynesville.
"A little bit before 5 this morning I found out the lights were off and I said 'Oh, Lord'," said William Kennedy, Principal.
But no power -- no problem!  Golden Tornado fans are a force of nature.
"But when I got here there were already people here that were ready.  They were having a great time - no lights, they moved cars and trucks around to see y'all," said Kennedy.
That's why this school is our week three winner of the NBC 6/Landers Fiat Spirit Stick.
Finally, the lights came back on just in time to officially award - not just the school- but the entire community the spirit stick.
Miguel Deleon is part of the Golden Tornado tradition.
"It's great seeing all these people supporting school and football team and everybody goes out and does their thing on Friday nights and everyday of the week," said DeLeon.
It's why Principal Kennedy is so passionate about his job.
"it carries over into everything we do.  FBLA, 4-H, basketball, whatever.  That pride and feeling you have about Haynesville is supposed to be carries over into other things," said Kennedy.
As senior Danielle Punch puts it: this town knows what they're doing.
“We see that if you support them that we have good results.  We won 15 state championships.  It’s got to be doing something for us," said Punch.
