Helping fight crime with pancakes

What better way to help fight crime than by eating pancakes?

On Saturday, the 7th annual Flapjack Fundraiser was held.

It's an event to help raise money for the Shreveport/Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers.

The group pays cash rewards for information leading to felony arrests.

But, the program operates entirely on donations.

Those in charge say they want people to know they can always use the public's help to fight crime.

"We can't do it alone," said Coordinator Jim Taliaferro. "There's not enough law enforcement to go around to actually make a great impact in our society. We're here together. So we're looking for the eyes, the ears of the public to get involved in Crime Stoppers. If you see something say something."

So far this year, Caddo Crime Stoppers has found more than $6,000 in stolen property.

They've also arrested 52 suspects, and paid more than $9,000 in rewards.
