Hughes Springs falls to Hallettsville in state championship

Mustangs end season with 36-2 record and second place finish in Class 2A
ROUND ROCK, TX - Hughes Springs fell in their bid for the program's first-ever state championship.

The Mustangs were defeated 4-2 by Hallettsville in the Texas Class 2A state title game.

The Brahmas used a two-run first and a two-run fourth to edge Hughes Springs.

Zach Bassham took the loss for Hughes Springs. The right-handed started tossed a complete game, allowing 4 runs on 11 hits.

His counterpart, Reagan McAda got the win, throwing a seven inninings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits.

Hughes Springs ends the season with a 36-2 record.
