Humane Society celebrates Black Dogtober Event

Some furry friends spent their Saturday hoping for a furr-ever home.

The Humane Society held their first-ever Black Dogtober Event.

13 of their black dogs were up for adoption.

They ranged in age and size, but all hoped to find a new family.

Other fun activities were also held, including an auction and photo booth.

Those in charge hoped the event would raise awareness on the importance of adoption.

"This is a great cause to support and we are a great rescue here in town," said Shelter Manager Courtney Wingate. "We do promote spay and neutering of animials and come out and check us out and hopefully find your new forever friend."

Application to adopt is easy.

You must fill out and application.

It'll take 24-hours to process and must go through the board.

Then a home visit will be scheduled to make sure the 4-legged friend will be a good match.
