I-20 traffic stop leads to drug arrests

Two people are behind bars after they were allegedly caught with more than 18 pounds of marijuana in Bienville Parish.

Two people are behind bars after they were allegedly caught with more than 18 pounds of marijuana in Bienville Parish.

Early Tuesday morning State Police pulled over a 2013 Dodge Charger for a traffic violation on Interstate-20 near Arcadia.

When troopers searched the vehicle they discovered 18 and a half pounds of hydroponic marijuana with an estimated street value of $55,000.

Christopher Taylor, 26, of Columbia, South Carolina, was arrested and charged with improper lane usage, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

A passenger in the vehicle Jirek Mack, 25, of Cayce, South Carolina, was also arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

If convicted, Taylor and Mack face up to 45 years in prison and a fine of up to $75,000.
