Kaitlyn Mills is remembered by her classmates

Family and friends remember a local third grader who died from the flu. Teachers, classmates and family members gathered outside Central Park Elementary School Wednesday afternoon for a memorial service honoring Kaitlyn Mills.
Family and friends remember a local third grader who died from the flu. Teachers, classmates and family members gathered outside Central Park Elementary School Wednesday afternoon for a memorial service honoring Kaitlyn Mills.

Kaitlyn's parents planted a maple tree in her honor. The school's principal says this has been a difficult time for the students.

Suzette Hadden explains, “They're having a hard time. They're not really sure what to do with their emotions that they have. They're still a little bit raw in those emotions, so I'm hoping that this will let everyone begin healing. They need that time to start healing."

She says Kaitlyn will be best remembered for her love of pink, positive attitude and compassion towards others.
