A Benton High School senior is hoping stuffed animals will bring some comfort to children who are in stressful situations.

Friday morning Brittany Craig, 17, donated 1,000 animals to the Bossier Sheriff's Office.

Brittany said she believes the stuffed animals will have a calming effect on children who go through traumatic times.

Brittany said a school senior project dealing with the effects of child abuse led her to start the stuffed animal drive.  In about a week she collected toys from students, faculty, friends and parents at Benton High School and Benton Elementary School.

Deputies will now load the toys into their patrol cars and distribute them to children in the community during their calls for cases involving domestic violence, sexual offenses, death or a traffic accident.
