Local hospital lends helping hand to typhoon survivors

University Health Shreveport is stepping up to raise money to help those who lost everything in Typhoon Haiyan.

Hospital officials are calling upon the community to join them in their relief efforts.

Dr. Rosario Riel-Romero, a Philippine native and Pediatric Neurologist at University Health said, "This tragedy affected millions of people. On behalf of the Filipino community, I thank you for all your help in our time of despair and great need."

Cash donations or checks payable to the American Red Cross are being accepted through Dec. 31 by Hospital Administration Room #E1-20, 1541 Kings Highway, Shreveport, LA 71103.
