The Red River Revel will feature the Dallas Black Dance Theatre. They're here to not only perform but to also give back.
The world-renown dance company is in its 37th season, known for its African, Modern, and Spiritual performances.
Before dancers hit the stage Tuesday night, they’re giving area children a taste of what it's like to be a professional dancer. On Sunday, they hosted two free, hour and a half introduction classes at Riverview Theatre. The classes were fast-paced, and non-stop.
“It was really intense movement,” said Alicia Hoey. “I’m exhausted.”
“It’s very awesome for little kids to just experience movement and not have an image on dance,” said Alyssa Harrington, instructor and dancer with the Dallas Black Dance Theatre.
Grandparent Cynthia Harrison said this is a life changing opportunity for the children.
“I think it is so wonderful,” said Harrison. “I wish more people would’ve come out to participate.”
The Dallas Black Dance Theatre performs Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at Riverview Theatre. Tickets are $25. Here’s a link to more info.
