Louisiana Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday begins

Firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies exempt from state and local sales tax through Sunday.

The 2013 Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Sales Tax Holiday began Friday and will run through Sunday, September 8th.  Firearms, ammunition and supplies designed for hunting are eligible for the state and local sales tax exemption.

At Ron's Guns in Bossier City, Ron Mock, says customers began pouring through the doors as soon as the shop opened Friday and sales remained steady throughout the day.  "It's been great, it's about probably three times better than a regular day," he says.

In addition to firearms, hunting supplies such as camouflage clothing, bags, binoculars, knives are eligible for the tax exemption along with all terrain vehicles designed for hunting.  The exemption does not apply to golf carts, dirt bikes, motorcycles, and go-carts.  For a complete list of eligible items you can visit the Lousiana Sales Tax Holiday website.
