For the first time in four years Louisiana State University faculty and staff will get an increase in their wages.

LSU President and Chancellor F. King Alexander, who made the announcement Friday, said the pay raises will range up to 4 percent and will vary by and within institution and personnel types.

The effective dates will also vary within institution depending on each institution's current financial obligations and circumstances.

The funds for the adjustments will come from internal administrative savings and savings from personnel adjustments that have occurred over the last several years.

In some cases additional funds will come from anticipated enrollment increases as well. The $10 million appropriated by the Legislature to the LSU System will support the entities in this endeavor and assist institutions with some deferred maintenance projects.
