Man injured in shoot-out with law enforcement

A man is shot multiple times by law enforcement officers in Sabine Parish.   27 year old Michael A. Malmay of Noble is listed in critical condition at University Health in Shreveport .

The incident happened Saturday around 5:30pm.  Two Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies and a Louisiana State Police trooper responded to a 911 call about a man threatening himself and others with a firearm in the Ebarb community. Upon arriving at the scene, they found Malmay with a shotgun.

According to investigators, deputies made multiple attempts to talk Malmay into putting the weapon down. When Malmay threatened the officers with his firearm, he was shot multiple times as he was shooting at the officers. The deputies and trooper were uninjured in the exchange of gunfire.

Malmay was taken to DeSoto Regional Hospital by ambulance before being transported to University Health.  Preliminary indications are that the officers took appropriate action, but the shooting is under investigation by the Louisiana State Police and the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office.
