A Mansfield man will spend 10 years as a guest of the Louisiana state penal system after being convicted of beating his girlfriend.

Donald R. McMillon, Jr., 27, 10 years imprisonment for aggravated battery after pleading guilty to beating his live-in girlfriend in February 2013. The victim spent several days in the hospital as a
result of McMillon’s attack.

Richard Z. Johnson, Jr., district attorney in DeSoto Parish, takes a no-nonsense approach to domestic violence.

He said McMillon’s case highlights the dangers of domestic violence. “Too often, we see women victimized in the places where they should feel the safest—their homes. The issue of domestic violence deserves our attention, efforts and resources. Our office will continue to aggressively prosecute those who terrorize their families.”

Assistant District Attorney Britney A. Green prosecuted the case.
